Downtown Westminster will soon feature a striking new public artwork: a 30-foot hot air balloon sculpture titled Float Together, designed by New York City studio Hou De Sousa. Selected from more than 100 international submissions, the steel installation will symbolize both Westminster’s future as a growing community hub and its past connection to the old Westminster Mall, where balloon sculptures once hung in the central atrium. The piece, described as a “community quilt” in form, will be the signature element of the new Central Park, a nearly $11 million project opening this fall. With a $250,000 budget and completion set for summer 2026, the artwork is intended to help Center Park become a unique gathering place that reflects the city’s vision for connection, creativity, and community in its emerging Downtown.
